IMF respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy.

The Ignited Minds Foundation (“IMF”, “we”, “us”, “our”) has developed this Privacy Policy to describe how we may collect, use and share the Personal Information of visitors to and users of our website at https://ignitedmindsfoundation.com, affiliated websites that link to this Privacy Policy, our online and offline donation platforms and our programs and services (collectively referred to as the “Platforms”).

The term “Personal Information,” as we use such term in this Privacy Policy, means information that can identify or can be reasonably linked to a specific individual. This may include, but is not limited to, an individual’s name, address, phone number, email address, age, sex, marital or family status, financial information and educational history (“Personal Information”).

We are committed to collecting, using and disclosing Personal Information in a responsible manner, and only to the extent of which the services we offer demand. IMF is transparent with how we use Personal Information.

Please review this Privacy Policy before using or submitting Personal Information to the Platform.

If you access the Platforms through a mobile device and you do not want your device to provide IMF with location-tracking information, you can disable the GPS or other location-tracking functions on your device, provided that your device allows you to do so. Please see your device manufacturer’s instructions for further details.

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The primary reason for IMF to collect Personal Information is to provide personalization options for users of our Platforms, and to facilitate and enhance Platform features that require user input, whether this information is submitted directly by the user of our Platforms or collected by use of technologies such as cookies, as discussed below.

Personal Information submitted through IMF Platforms is only used for the purposes for which it was collected. Please find additional information below on how IMF may use Personal Information collected from the Platforms.

We may use your information for any lawful purpose, including the following:

  • To enable you to make donations and to participate in activities, events and offerings available through the Platforms;
  • To respond to your inquiries, including providing information and materials you request;

  • To administer user follow-up and communications;
  • To comply with all applicable laws and maintain the security of our Platforms; or
  • With your consent, or as otherwise disclosed at the time Personal Information is collected.

PRIVACY CHOICE

You have the option to opt out of certain uses and disclosures of your Personal Information. For example, you have the right to decline the use of your Personal Information for direct marketing purposes and the sharing of your Personal Information with affiliates or third-parties for their marketing purposes. If you wish to opt out, contact us to submit your request.

ACCESSING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You can review, correct, change or delete your Personal Information that we have stored by contacting us.

COOKIES & WEBSITE DATA COLLECTION

The Platforms use “cookies”, being data that the Platforms can send to your browser, which may then be stored on a user’s computer or mobile device to permit the Platforms to recognize future visits using that browser. Cookies enhance the convenience and use of the Platforms and the features offered thereon. For example, the information provided through cookies is used to recognize you as a previous user of the Platform (so you do not have to enter your language preference every time), to offer personalized content and information for your use, to track your activity on the Platforms, to respond to your needs, and to otherwise facilitate your experience in using the features provided by the Platforms.

Many consider the use of cookies and such identifiers to be an industry standard measure. Consequently, your web browser is likely set to accept cookies or allow other identifiers. If you would prefer not to receive cookies or allow identifiers, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies or surf anonymously. If you reject cookies, you may still use our Platforms and all the informational resources provided through them, notwithstanding that certain features may be limited in functionality.

IMF uses a tracking utility provided by a third-party vendor to track usage of specific web pages and other resources provided through our Platforms. The vendor sets cookies as a method for compiling site usage information, but these cookies are only used to compile demographic models of site usage and are not tied to the user’s Personal Information.

DIGITIAL ADVERTISING

We may partner with ad networks and other ad serving providers (“Advertising Providers”) that serve ads on behalf of us and others on non-affiliated platforms. Some of those ads may be personalized, meaning that they are intended to be relevant to you based on information Advertising Providers collect about your use of the Platforms and other sites or apps over time, including information about relationships among different browsers and devices. This type of advertising is known as interest-based advertising.

IMF adheres to the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) Self-Regulatory Principles in connection with this interest-based advertising activity. You may visit the DAA Webchoices tool at www.aboutads.info to learn more about this type of advertising and how to opt out of this advertising on websites by companies participating in the DAA self-regulatory program. If you delete your cookies or use a different browser or mobile device, you may need to renew your opt-out choices exercised through the DAA Webchoices tool. Note that electing to opt out will not stop advertising from appearing in your browser or applications. It may make the ads you see less relevant to your interests. Additionally, your browser may offer tools to limit the use of cookies or to delete cookies; however, if you use these tools, the Platforms may not function as intended.

If you wish to opt-out of interest-based advertising in mobile apps on your device by companies that participate in the DAA’s AppChoices app, you may download the app onto your device and exercise your choice. AppChoices is available at the links below:

We may also work with third-parties that collect data about your use of the Platforms and other sites or apps over time for non-advertising purposes. We may use Google Analytics and other third-party services to improve the performance of the Platforms and for analytics and marketing purposes. For more information about how Google Analytics collects and uses data when you use our Platforms, visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and to opt out of Google Analytics, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

When you connect with us through a third-party site (such as a social media or advertising platform), we may collect information based on your registration and privacy settings on that third-party platform. Information shared with a third-party platform is subject to that platform’s privacy policy and any terms of use governing your account with that platform.

Additionally, We may collect information from other sources to update or supplement the information that you provide or that we collect automatically.

THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND TOOLS

We may provide links on the Platforms to third-party websites or apps, including plug-ins that link to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram. These websites and apps are independent from IMF and have their own separate terms and conditions and privacy policies. IMF is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third-party websites or apps. We recommend that you review the third-parties’ privacy polices before you visit these websites or apps to learn about their data practices.

The Platforms may also include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins,” such as social networking tools offered by third-parties. If you use these tools to share personal information or you otherwise interact with these features on the Platforms, those companies may collect information about you and may use and share such information in accordance with your account settings, including by sharing such information with the general public. Your interactions with third-party companies and your use of their features are governed by the privacy notices of the companies that provide those features. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy notices of any accounts you create and use.

SECURITY OF DATA & PERSONAL INFORMATION

We have taken certain physical, administrative, operational and technical steps to safeguard the Personal Information we collect from and about users and visitors of the Platforms. While we make every effort to help ensure the confidentially, integrity and availability of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee our security measures.

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We protect your information through technical and administrative measures designed to mitigate the risk of unlawful or unauthorized access, destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure or use of your data.

We use the necessary and appropriate security measures when discarding personal information, such as shredding paper documents and permanently deleting electronic files.

DATA RETENTION

IMF retains Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES

By visiting or using the Platforms, you hereby accept to be bound by the Privacy Policy without any reservations, modifications, additions or deletions. If you do not agree to all the provisions contained in this Privacy Policy, you are not authorized to use the Platforms. The Privacy Policy is a legal and binding agreement between you and us.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion and without prior notice, to modify, change or replace any portion of this Privacy Policy at any time. If we do this, we will post the changes on this page and will indicate at the top of this page the date the Privacy Policy was last modified. It is your responsibility to check the Privacy Policy periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Platforms following the posting of any such changes constitutes acceptance of the Privacy Policy.

GOVERNING LAW

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Alberta. If you are located outside of Canada when you use the Platforms, any information you submit thereto will be transferred to Canada. Accordingly, by using the Platforms and submitting Personal Information thereto, you authorize the transfer of your Personal Information to Canada.

If any part of this Privacy Policy is determined to be invalid or unenforceable pursuant to applicable law, then the invalid or unenforceable provision or part will be deemed suspended and a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision or part and the remainder of this Privacy Policy shall continue in full force and effect.
